In Roman mythology "Flora" was the goddess of the flowers and the season of Spring. Though she is a relatively minor figure in Roman mythology - her role is seen across Europe in many Goddess forms including Freyja, Hausos, and Ostara . Over a thousand years ago, the Ostara Goddess (Eostre) celebrations across Germany recognized the arrival of spring. It is this celebration that was later renamed "Easter" by the Christian church to aid in converting the faith of the people by offering similar celebrations that more closely aligned with their pagan belief systems.
